Register now for our annual introductory avalanche awareness seminars hosted by Marshall Dempster to discuss terrain, trip planning, companion rescue scenarios, and get hands-on experience with your avalanche safety equipment. This intro course is great for beginners or seasoned snowmobilers who are looking for a refresher! 

Cost

$50 Per Participant. You will receive the $50 registration fee back in the form of a $50 MMS Gift Card upon completion of your seminar! Plus, atendees will be entered to win additonal prizes including a grand prize $250 Martin Motor Sports gift card. (Gift card can be redeemed at our West or South Edmonton store).
 

 

2. Avalanche Skills Training Level 1: Classroom Training and Mandatory Field Day in Valemount, BC.

Details
AST1 is an industry certified course based on the guidelines and specifications of Avalanche Canada. Curtis Pawliuk from Frozen Pirate will be facilitating the classroom portion of AST1 training at Martin Motor Sports. This course is a must for anyone recreating in the back country! 

In-Class Course topics Include:
  • Understanding avalanche formation and release
  • Identifying avalanche terrain
  • Travel techniques and terrain management
  • Companion Rescue
  • ATES Terrain Ratings, Avalanche Bulletins and Danger Rating
  • Available Resources
  • Understanding your limits and where you fit as a decision maker
  • Human factors and how they relate to decision making
Field Day Information
To successfully complete this course, students must be able to meet one of the scheduled field days in Valemount, BC at the Clemina Creek Riding Area. Field times are first come, first served and taking place on: Dec 20, 21 & 22, Jan 17, 18 & 19.

Your course does not include:
  • Snowmobile rentals, gear, or transportation to trailheads
  • Avalanche safety equipment (rentals available)
  • Trail fees

Students MUST be able to attend a field day in order to register. Please confirm you can attend one of the field days BEFORE registering for this AST1 training.
