Price point
Can-Am Ryker’s cost less than Can-Am Spyder’s.
The Can-Am Ryker comes with an entry level price of about $9,000 (not including freight, PDI or commodity surcharge). Comparatively, the Can-Am Spyder F3 starts at approximately $23,100 and the Can-Am Spyder RT starts at approximately $30,000 (not including freight, PDI or commodity surcharge). The contrast in price can be attributed to differences in engine size and features which will be covered later in this blog.
Engine and Transmission
These three-wheel motorcycles can attribute their power to the sophisticated Rotax © engine. Can-Am Ryker models offer the choice between two engines. First, the 2-cylinder Rotax © 600 ACE engine makes for strong, everyday performance. Riders looking for extra speed and power can opt for the 3-cylindar Rotax © 900 ACE engine.
Spyder RT models come equipped with a Rotax © 1330 ACE 3-cylinder engine for maximum power, pictured below. Additionally, these transmissions are 6-speed semi-automatic with a reverse function.

Can a Can-Am Ryker and Can-Am Spyder be taken Off-Road?
It’s important to note that Can-Am Ryker’s and Can-Am Spyder’s are not considered off-road vehicles. The best places to ride these machines are on paved roads due to their low ground clearance. However, the Can-Am Ryker is built with sturdier tires that can make carving through gravel and graded dirt a blast! Use your discretion to protect yourself and your machine before heading off the beaten path.
Do I need a Motorcycle License to drive a Can-Am Spyder and Can-Am Ryker in Canada?
Yes. You must have a class 6 motorcycle license as both the Spyder and Ryker are classified as motorcycles. If you’re a learner, you can operate a three wheeled motorcycle with any other class of license (7,5,4,3,2,1) as long as you have direct supervision from a class 6 license holder. Please note that these rules and requirements may differ for private demo events.
